Honest Marketing that Works
For most of my life I felt that money wasn't important (or nice), and I was uncomfortable concentrating on it. I also learned that it's just not polite to talk yourself up. Perhaps, then, it's no surprise that for many years I worked very hard for modest pay. 15 years ago I went to work for myself, and I worked even harder for even less.
Today I enjoy a prosperity I couldn't even imagine then, a prosperity that allows me to live joyfully and authentically. To be specific, I have gone from bringing in a good deal less than $1,000 per month to 10 times that, and my income continues to grow while my workweek shrinks. I love what I do, and I know I am making a significant contribution to the well being of others.
So, what changed?
Somehow in the midst of licking my wounds and reflecting on how hard it was to be self-employed, I bumped up against the possibility that I was in some fashion creating my problems. This was not a new idea, but in the past I'd not been able to see exactly how I was shaping my limitations, so I couldn't do anything about it. Thinking that I was partly responsible just made me feel worse.
This time was different.
I resolved to study my reactions to business and marketing, and I discovered that I suffered from several underlying misconceptions that kept me playing small.
I realized that undoing my misconceptions would be difficult, and that it could also catalyze incredible growth, service, and authenticity. So, as a lifelong learner who has sought emotional and spiritual growth at every turn, I set out to uncover and examine the beliefs, fears, and resentments that showed up in the context of business and marketing.
I discovered precisely how my habits of mind, emotion, and body generated the results I was getting, and (with a great deal of trial and error) I devised simple practices that shifted my paradigm and, in consequence, my results.
The journey took 12 years. At the end, I had developed specific ways to transform my problems into solutions so that I could connect with the marketplace in a soulful, heartfelt, authentic way that reaches clients and buyers who fit "just right." After that, making a good living was practically a detail.
I started sharing what I learned with artists, professionals, entrepreneurs, even engineers and scientists. In time, I it all came together in a single course, Authentic Promotion.
At my first official networking event of the new year, I went to sit down at a table and introduced myself to the woman who was seated next to me. She, of course, asked, "What do you do?" I was able to very comfortably and confidently give my elevator speech, and she replied, "Nice niche!" I couldn't have asked for more!

What's all that worth?
Copywriting experts say I should spell it out for you, so I will. (By the way, it's scary for me to write this sales stuff -- and it's part of my ongoing learning process. One of the things we'll be looking at in the course is how to stretch our comfort zones, risking coming on too strong yet coming from an authentic desire to connect rather than to persuade.)
Okay, back to the numbers. At my hourly rate of $350 it would cost you $6,300 just for the class time. (Not bad for someone who only eight years ago quailed at the idea of charging $35 an hour!) The listserv support would easily cost $525 per week, so for seven weeks that's $3675. (And that doesn't include the support I provide when you join the community listserv.) The textbook, workbook, and class outlines retail at $22, $13, and $15, respectively. The CDs will retail for $230.00.
The total comes to $10,255.
